CityWide WiFi 5 years 4 months ago 207

Portland should have CityWide WiFi.  We are both smaller in surface area, and more technologically advanced than Philadelphia, and they have beaten us to this idea.  They have made mistakes, and have retooled accordingly.  We can learn from their mistakes, and implement this program to get our creative entrepreneurs out of the coffee shops and into the sunshine.

Natural Value 5 years 4 months ago 211

Create an app that be added to by the public and expand the community's understanding of existing natural features. Starting with the location of trees in our neighborhoods. The City has created a parks tree inventory that identifies stormwater values and, I believe, air quality.

Public Alerts App 5 years 4 months ago 215

The recent public alerts system test demonstrated the need for a much more capable system. A dedicated app that can push notifications to registered citizens would be a powerful addition to the current system. The ability to override silenced ringtones, and utilize location-based technology would both be key capability improvements.

Parking Spot Finder 5 years 4 months ago 0

It would be cool to make a GPS app that would tell you where parking spots were available downtown. I was thinking you could either use an ID tag on the vehicles that would be read curbside, or upgrade the meter boxes where you pay with the spot number you will be parking at. I'm sure there are other possibilities, but those are the ones I have right now.
