Google Products Tutorial 5 years 11 months ago 236

User category: Business
All too often local product search results are dominated by big box retailers. Given the number of smaller boutique type shops in and around Portland, helping small business owners understand how to upload their inventory and pricing information to Google for product search results would be very useful.

TriMet support of HTTPS 6 years 4 days ago 245
Please add support for HTTPS to the TriMet API. As it is, my TriMet trip planning requests can be read by anyone on the same wireless network (e.g., everybody else at a coffee house or my hotel). The info in the request can reveal when I'll be away from my home, and when I'll be standing alone at a bus stop. Adding support for HTTPS to the TriMet API would fix these security problems. Thanks!
TriMet Walking Speed parameter 6 years 2 weeks ago 191
Please add an optional Walking Speed parameter (miles/hour) to the TriMet Trip Planner API. This feature would enable users with physical impairments (or those walking with small children) to tell TriMet to plan connection times that they can successfully walk to in time.
Transform Every 3rd Street Downtown 6 years 10 months ago 186
We should remove car traffic from every 3rd street downtown, and transform that road into a park/garden/walking path for the betterment of the whole community. Less cars downtown is good for everyone.
Pilot data.oregon.gov 7 years 1 month ago 662
The State of Oregon is piloting a data sharing site complete with API's, social comments about the data, embedding views and social sharing capabilities. It looks like any agency can use it to easily share their data. Lets show them this is a successful and appreciated approach by creating apps and encouraging use of the Pilot (and beyond). It is at data.oregon.gov .
Using Hadoop for data processing 7 years 2 months ago 293
I have some expertise with Apache Hadoop and was wondering if I could use it in processing the datasets which are made available here. I am mainly looking at Addresses, business license and crime reports data sets. I plan to cluster the crime reports and recommend areas which are less susceptible to crime. I am running short of ideas.
Accessible Trip Planner 7 years 2 months ago 302
Combining the Trimet datasets/services with the datasets pertaining to curbs, sidewalks, and slope/elevation would allow a user to plan an "accessible" trip. Walking or otherwise traveling to a station that's technically the closest one may not be the best option if it's a 50ft elevation gain or the travel path has no sidewalks or curb ramps.
Loo Finder 7 years 3 months ago 266
An app that can tell where you are and where the nearest public toilet is. I would think this is self explanatory, but the CivicApps programs says I need 25 words to describe the occasional necessity to find a toilet.
