Designated landmark buildings, structures, and sites could be "tagged" so people using the application could read a short history or description of the building, perhaps even a historic photograph could be included.

Portland Poetry Boxes app will provide a regional mobile map of Poetry Box locations, and enable users to share and find Poetry Boxes, and plan their walks to include Poetry Boxes. I have stumbled across Poetry Boxes in my neighborhood, but wouldn’t know how to find them intentionally.

In the first phase, you take the 911 data and stream it out through twitter so people can easily see all the 911 calls.

Find the safest places to park your bike. Combine bike parking map with crime reports to find the safest place to park your bike at a given time of day. It would show a heat map of crime stats around bike parking locations. You could specify morning, afternoon, evening or night.
